The 1" diameter staff seems to be made from a solid piece of metal, but it is actually thin-walled hollow aluminium with end caps to give that solid look. We've also machined into the blue anodized surface (you read that right, that blue color isn't paint) to give you a shiny diamond pattern on the handles (for a tight grip) and the ends (because it looks nice).
The light weight and amazing feel are designed to help you move super fast when you're demonstrating your bo staff skills.
