The handle accesses the push-button release that send the 3.5-inch blade out of the handle and into the upright position where the liner locks it into place until you release the side safety latch and let the blade come back down.

For safety, this stiletto switchblade has a sliding lock that will keep it from opening when you don't want it to. Another safety feature is the woven nylon carrying case that will keep the button from being accessed, and allows you to transport this Kris knife with confidence.
