This kusari-fundo constructed of stainless steel chain links and weights, all of which have been anodized for a stealthy black covering. These chained weapons historically did not have any specifications beyond "weights on a chain", so the varieties and shapes of the weights differ, as well as the chain length. This manriki is just about 33 inches long in total, with about 29 inches in chain and two hexagonal weights on each end. The weights have a swivel ball bearing attachment on the top that attaches to the chain and allows the weight to spin freely. The opposite end of the weight has a very slight point, unlike some fundo which are designed to be spiked and lethal.

With this 11.8-ounce kung fu weapon by your side, it is easy to get creative in how to defend against an attack. It can be swung around and launched towards an assailant, or can be used as a whip to either wrap feet or hands together, or to pull a blade or firearm away from the villain that wants to use it against you.
