kusari-fundo has a chain connected by two weights, this modern-style manriki has a durable 28" steel chain connected by a pair of 6" solid aluminum handles. These handles have a diamond pattern designed to keep your grip firm.
With the updated design, there is much less chance of your fingers slipping as you choke or trap your opponent. The handles themselves are durable enough to be used as striking weapons in the event that you need them.
