The Warriors Path Carbon Steel Katana is a samurai sword made in modern times with the same techniques and quality materials that made ancient Japanese katanas stand the test of time and remain so revered throughout history.
This 41 1/2-inch battle ready samurai katana has a 27-inch blade made from 1060 high carbon steel. This hand-forged blade has been clay tempered to create a hardness of 55 HRC and a gorgeous genuine hamon running its length. The hamon is the wavy line separating the cutting edge from the rest of the blade. This edge has been expertly honed to razor sharp, making it capable of slicing through tatami mats and other targets with ease. There are blood grooves running the length of each side of the blade, the purpose being to cut weight, with the goal of increasing speed and agility.
Traditional samurai swords like this full tang katana, often have wooden handles that have been covered in ray skin. The 11 1/2-inch tsuka on this weapon has panels of real sting ray skin, not artificial material that's often used and made to look genuine. This real rayskin has a rough texture that gives the wielder a more secure hold. Black cotton cord wrapping over this textured covering makes the handle even easier to grip without the handle slipping. Ornamental bamboo menuki adorn both sides of the tsuka.
The 3-inch iron tsuba is a continuation of the bamboo leaf motif. This round handguard has a black finish, with leaves and stalks growing from the circular iron rim. These details match the intricate design on the handle's pommel and collar. The kashira and fuchi are made from zinc and a gold color that contrasts nicely with the black saya, sageo, and ito.
