Dark Infinity Hand-Forged Katana
+ DESCRIPTION
When you receive your katana, you'll see it comes in a black cloth sword bag. You can use this quality bag to continue protecting your weapon from damage during storage and transportation if you wish. Opening the sword satchel reveals a samurai katana with its blade housed in a glossy black scabbard. This wooden saya has been painted black with a piano finish, giving it a high shine, nearly reflective, surface. This wood scabbard looks especially gorgeous when displayed side by side with the 28.5" 1060 carbon steel blade on a simple sword stand. The saya is wrapped with black cotton cord, which provides a better grip when unsheathing your katana. You wouldn't want to slip and injure yourself before you even wield your sword, after all.
As beautiful as this samurai katana is in a display case, this is a fully functional weapon. The sword is battle ready straight from the box. The carbon steel blade has been clay tempered and given a razor sharp edge, separated from the blunt upper edge by a real hamon line. A blood groove runs the length of this upper edge on both sides of the blade. These depressions in the metal serve the same purpose today as they did centuries ago; They collect and divert liquid from impeding the sharp cutting surface of the steel blade and from running down onto the hands of the wielder.
The handguard on this hand-forged samurai sword has a simple, functional yet classy design. The 3" tsuba is made from iron, which is extremely durable and resistant to striking and cutting. This heavy metal is a good choice for this minimalist tsuba because the circular shape has a large amount of negative space that keeps the weight down. The hand guard resembles an infinity symbol, almost like two circles joined, and has been given a matte black finish.
The 11.75" handle on this sword has been made with the traditional wrapping method of Japanese sword makers. The tsuka is covered with real ray skin panels, a material used for its ideal texture and beauty. The ray skin is wrapped by black cotton cord with the traditional technique, giving the katana's handle a secure grip. The criss-cross design of the wrap over the rough ray skin gives the samurai warrior and modern wielder control and reduces slippage.
We hope this hand-forged carbon steel masterpiece finds a place in your sword collection. Whether you put it on display or use it for impressive cutting demonstrations, this katana is all about substance. Its no frills design and quality craftsmanship are hard to find in a world of factories and mass manufacturing. We want to give you the experience of really knowing your weapon. Start today.
