Fashioned after the traditional weapon used in Southeast Asia, these rattan bo staffs are made from a fast growing reed native to that area. With fibers that interlock together as they grow in long shoots, this wood-type material has great impact resistance and is extremely lightweight. For a bo staff, jo staff, escrima and kali sticks, it is ideal to have a weapon that will be able to strike again and again without tearing up your hands or breaking into pieces. Different from hollow stalks of bamboo, rattan is filled in with woven fibers that have air pockets inside after being dried. These long and sturdy sticks then become strong and light, making them ready to fight!
There are many patterns and designs available for a bo staff, usually decorated with different burn patterns in a traditional style. This fighting stick has bear prints up and down the shaft, complete with the large claw marks of this formidable predator. Because it is burned into the material, the pattern will not flake or chip off with use.
