The thick steel has a hand-crafted charcoal finish with a sharpened blade that reaches over a foot long, so you'll be hard pressed to find something it won't cut in two.
The thick metal used is a solid charcoal-treated 440 stainless steel. The wide bellied top of the blade is characteristic of a kurki, the knife used in Southeast Asian armies for close melee combat. The tang extends down through the handle, making this knife full tang, and giving you extra confidence as you swing the sharpened edge around. It has been hand-hammered to create the textured etching on the flat edge of the blade, showing the care and craftsmanship that went into making it. While this knife is made of thick steel, it only weighs about 1 pound 10 ounces, much less than other hefty bolo machetes.
The wide recurve blade is controlled with the bright blue pakkawood handle that is also curved with the tang of the steel. The treated pakkawood is vibrant and moisture-resistant, making this a distinctive piece as you add it to your collection.
